By 1982, when the Arkansas State Highway Commission published this map, the Fulbright Expressway around the west side of Fayetteville was complete, the only hint of what would one day become Interstate 540. Although the addition of the interstate is the biggest difference between this map and present-day maps, Arkansas Highway 68 running from Siloam Springs east through Springdale toward Huntsville has also been straightened out in several spots and renumbered as U.S. 412.
