This topographical map, printed by the United States Geological Survey in 1901, shows what Fayetteville and the surrounding territory looked like at the beginning of the 20th century. A few of the changes include:
- The St. Paul Branch of the St. Louis and San Francisco Railway no longers runs eastward through the Baldwin and Harris communities.
- College Avenue leading north out of Fayetteville no longer zigs and zags to get to Springdale.
- And Anderson Branch north of Fayetteville is now called Mud Creek.
