Built during the 1930s, the U.S. Veterans Hospital provided much needed jobs and welcome federal spending in Fayetteville during the Depression. The early campus of the hospital included a hospital, several sick wards and an auditorium. College Avenue in the foreground is now five lanes wide, the grounds are now buffered by a woodland, and a fence and gate to the right entry help separate the passing traffic from the quiet grounds. This card was printed by Curt Teich of Chicago, Illinois, and postmarked August 7, 1935. It is addressed to Mr. E.S. Olson, care of the Frisco Freight House in Paris, Texas, and it reads: “Hello Mr. Olson I have been here two weeks now. I am working days 8:00 am to 4:30 p I like the job fine I think I will be here about six weeks your Friend Pat Hession”
