Bishop, Albert Webb. Loyalty on the Frontier, or, Sketches of Union Men of the South-west; with incidents and adventures in rebellion on the border (R.P. Studley and Co. printers: St. Louis, 1863) While serving as provost marshall of Fayetteville during the Civil War, Albert W. Bishop wrote a book about various Union officers and soldiers who were connected with Northwest Arkansas and Fayetteville, as well as incidents that occurred during the Union occupation of the area. A few sketches with connections to Fayetteville include Isaac Murphy, David Walker, M. LaRue Harrison, Thomas M. Gunter and Stephen Bedford, among others. Bishop later served as the second president of the Arkansas Industrial University. The University of Arkansas Press reprinted the Bishop's book in 2003.
